Jencons,
Radiation Protection Shielding
Beta emissions of 32P, 35S, 3H
and 14C can be effectively blocked by 10mm thick optical
acrylic. All Jencons Beta shielding is manufactured from heavy
gauge 10mm thick acrylic.
Where shielding is required for protection against
Gamma emissions of [125I] Iodine and other Gamma emitters
of lesser energy, a 12mm thick lead acrylic is required. This is
the heavy gauge lead acrylic Jencons uses for its Gamma shielding
products.
Storage and Transport
Boxes
Beta Flipper Box
Flipper boxes accommodate up to two of the popular 4-Way Flipper Racks.
This allows them to be used with 0.5ml, 1.5ml, 15ml and 50ml centrifuge
tubes.
Beta Block, with fixing screws
A simple acrylic block with positions for four 1.5ml centrifuge
tubes. Each tube can be individually held in position by a nylon-threaded
screw. A 15mm thick acrylic lid can also be fixed onto the block,
to provide all round protection.

Important
Safety Notice
Lead acrylic is meant for [125I] and related
Gamma blockage only. When Beta emitting particles such as
[32P] or [35S] are exposed to heavy
metals such as lead, dangerous Bremstrahlung X-rays are produced.
